WASHINGTON — Mike Davis, Founder and President of Article III Project (A3P), and Mark Lucas, Executive Vice President of Article III Project, issued the following statements after the Senate confirmed Pete Hegseth as President Donald Trump’s Secretary of Defense:
“The Article III Project delivered another major confirmation victory for President Trump. The conventional wisdom in Washington said Pete Hegseth’s nomination was dead on arrival. With our shock-and-awe media blitz and overwhelming grassroots campaign, A3P changed the politics by giving U.S. Senators an attitude adjustment,” said Davis.
“Pete Hegseth will restore honor and dignity to our military by focusing on the fundamentals of warfighting. Hegesth earned two Bronze Star Medals as a combat leader in Afghanistan and Iraq. Trigger pullers love Pete Hegseth. Paper pushers hate him,” said Lucas, who also succeeded Hegseth at Concerned Veterans for America and served with him in the 34th Infantry Division.
From the moment Hegseth’s nomination was announced, A3P went to the mat as a leader in the fight for his confirmation. Opinion pieces from Davis, Lucas, and Senior Counsel Josh Hammer were published and shared with senators. They did dozens of media hits. Over the last month, Article III Project’s Action Center facilitated nearly 40,000 contacts including emails, calls, and social media posts, from over 11,000 constituents urging their home-state senators to vote to confirm Hegseth.
The Article III Project (A3P) was founded by veteran GOP operative and attorney Mike Davis, who, after helping win the Senate confirmation battles of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, developed the reputation as a “take-no-prisoners conservative eager to challenge the left with hardball tactics,” as reported in The New York Times.
A3P defends constitutionalist judges, punches back on radical assaults on judicial independence (like court-packing) and opposes judicial and other nominees who are outside of the mainstream. Davis previously served as Chief Counsel for Nominations to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and led the Senate confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a record number of circuit court judges.
