WASHINGTON — Mike Davis, Founder and President of the Article III Project, issued the following statement after President-elect Donald Trump selected Todd Blanche to serve as his Deputy Attorney General and John Sauer as his Solicitor General.
"Todd Blanche is an excellent choice to serve as President Trump’s Deputy Attorney General. Todd is a serious attorney, who served as a federal prosecutor and a law partner at a major New York law firm.
"Todd has also represented President Trump against the unprecedented lawfare and election interference against him. Todd is the perfect person to serve as the DOJ #2, where he will bring much-needed reforms.
"John Sauer is the perfect choice to serve as President Trump’s Solicitor General. John is a brilliant and fearless attorney, who clerked for the late, great Justice Scalia and served as Missouri’s solicitor general for many years. John is the architect and champion of President Trump’s legal argument on presidential immunity that led to his monumental win in the Supreme Court.
"John won this crucial fight, which led to the collapse of the Democrat lawfare and election interference against President Trump. John’s critics aren’t laughing anymore. I’m very proud of my friend John, who will continue to serve well President Trump as our nation’s top appellate attorney," said Davis.
The Article III Project (A3P) was founded by veteran GOP operative and attorney Mike Davis, who, after helping win the Senate confirmation battles of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, developed the reputation as a “take-no-prisoners conservative eager to challenge the left with hardball tactics,” as reported in The New York Times.
A3P defends constitutionalist judges, punches back on radical assaults on judicial independence (like court-packing) and opposes judicial and other nominees who are outside of the mainstream. Davis previously served as Chief Counsel for Nominations to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and led the Senate confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a record number of circuit court judges.
