Since his historic inauguration, President Trump set things right across the federal government and undid the damage of the previous four catastrophic years. His pardons of the January 6 hostages and two DC police officers protecting their community made it clear that the era of government weaponization is ending. But others were still ensnared in former President Biden’s politicized DOJ dragnet, and his latest round of pardons change that.

A 76-year-old grandmother and an 89-year-old communist prison camp survivor were among those arrested at the time. Why? For simply daring to defend life and stand for their beliefs. Ten other Americans became victims of Joe Biden and Merrick Garland’s crusade against pro-life Americans under the weaponized and unconstitutional FACE Act, until recently, when President Trump pardoned them.

The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act), passed in 1993, makes it a federal crime to block access to “reproductive services” under federal law. The Biden Justice Department abused the FACE Act to bring trumped-up federal charges against pro-life Christians praying at abortion clinics. The law also purports to protect churches, synagogues, and other places of worship, but the federal government never used the FACE Act to defend a service from anti-religious disruptors or prosecute the perpetrators.

In reality, we are talking about peaceful, pro-life Americans who the Biden regime singled out and targeted solely because of their beliefs. The Biden Justice Department brought charges, in many cases, after local law enforcement declined to prosecute.

As one attorney for some of these defendants put it, “While Biden’s prosecutors almost entirely ignored the firebombing and vandalism of hundreds of pro-life churches and pregnancy centers, they viciously pursued pro-life Americans . . . . And had they been opposing anything but abortion, Joe Biden would have given them medals—instead Biden wanted them branded as ‘convicted felons’ and imprisoned for years in a federal penitentiary."

These people who were sent to prison are good people. They’re everything from missionaries to adoptive parents to ordained clergy to regular people courageous enough to take a public stand for babies who will never know their names. Their biggest mistake, if one can call it that, was running afoul of a government that hated them because of what they stood for.

President Trump’s pardon saw through the Biden regime’s crusade against pro-life activists. They never deserved prison time–unlike Antifa, pro-abortion activists, and other leftwing radicals who have lit buildings on fire, destroyed businesses or attacked police officers. They faced no consequences–most without even being so much as handcuffed, much less charged.

President Trump’s move to pardon the FACE Act prisoners was 100% correct. These pro-life Americans were sitting in jail for heinous crimes such as singing hymns in an abortion clinic and delivering a pro-life message to women seeking abortions.

There is a reason that statues of Lady Justice traditionally depict her wearing a blindfold while holding the scales. It’s because unequal application of the law is a form of tyranny. For the rule of law to exist, the law must rule—instead of and despite the will of those who would use it as a cudgel to punish their fellow citizens. One analysis shows 97% of FACE Act prosecutions between the years of 1994-2024 were against pro-life Americans, so it is difficult to say with a straight face that this law was ever applied equally.

Efforts are already moving through Congress to repeal the FACE Act because of its abuse, but the damage was already done in these cases, with President Trump righting the wrongs committed by the Biden Justice Department. With the March for Life on January 24—where tens of thousands of pro-life Americans came to our nation’s capital to make their voices heard and stand up for the very beliefs for which these 21 good Americans went to prison—President Trump knew there was no better time than now to issue these critical pardons. Justice is the name of the game for President Donald J. Trump.
